This role will see you working with a diverse range of global organisations, providing key scientific contributions to support integrated small molecule drug discovery programs. Main responsibilities of the role include: 
·       Act as subject matter specialist, advising integrated project teams on formulation aspects 
·       A discipline lead who positively drives aspects of scientific innovation and strategy 
·       Liaise with colleagues in Medicinal Chemistry, DMPK and Pharmacology departments to provide formulation options for compounds that are challenging to dose in-vivo 
·       Design and undertake formulation screening studies for novel APIs 
·       Transfer of technical knowledge to third party GMP CROs/CMOs 
·       To provide scientific expertise to project teams by designing, influencing and co-coordinating work plans, and using sound scientific decision making and creative problem solving skills to achieve project goals. 
·       To contribute to Business Development activities

Job Requirements

Key requirements of the Research Leader Pharmaceutical Sciences are: 
·       A first degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent) or a closely related subject 
·       Extensive industrial experience, working in drug discovery or development 
·       Experience of developing discovery phase formulations for i.v. nd p.o. administration; experience with topical formulations would be an advantage 
·       High degree of competency with LC-MS instrumentation 
·       Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, as demonstrated both internally and externally with clients 
·       Experience in motivating and developing others, e.g. mentoring of junior scientists 
·       A positive role model with a ‘can-do’ attitude, who contributes to departmental goals and promotes best practice 
·       Strong track record of scientific impact in projects 
·       High degree of commercial awareness, ideally gained in a CRO environment 
·       Experience of designing and coordinating work plans for others
·       Exceptional problem solving skills, sound scientific judgement and high quality decision making, which has impacted positively on project deliverable's 
·       Awareness of how project resources and finances are managed within an acceptable budget. 
·       A dynamic and flexible approach towards achieving client-based objectives, with developing strategic thinking 
·       Ability to prepare high quality scientific documents to challenging deadlines 
·       High quality contributions to Business Development proposals and face to face meetings 
·       Models the Charles River Values of Care, Lead, Own and Collaborate 
·       This position is based in Harlow, Essex, UK
